The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) is a school-based co-curricular organization in Monreal National High School that serves as a platform for students to actively participate in environment conservation and protection. It is the primary environmental club recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) in schools, consolidating other environmental groups to maximize impact. YES-O empowers students to become environmental stewards and agents of change within their schools and communities. YES-O aims to achieve the following objectives: Raise Environmental Awareness: Educate and inform students about the state of the Philippine environment, including pressing issues like pollution, deforestation, and climate change. This includes organizing awareness campaigns, workshops and symposia to deepen understanding and encourage action Implement Environmental Programs: Develop and execute practical programs and projects that address environmental challenges. These may include activities like tree planting, waste management initiatives (segregation, recycling), clean-up drives, and promoting sustainable practices within school and community. Collaborate and Network: Foster collaboration with other government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other YES-O chapters in different schools to broaden reach and impact. This networking allows sharing of resources, knowledge, and best practices in environmental conservation. Encourage Community Participation: Engage the wider community in environmental initiatives, promoting collective responsibility and action. This can involve organizing community clean-ups, educational campaigns and encouraging environmental friendly practices at home and in the neighborhood. Develop Environmental Stewardship: Cultivate environmental values, skills, and attitudes among members and the community. YES-O aims to instill a deep sense for environment and empower individuals to become a lifelong advocates for sustainability. By pursuing this objectives, YES-O plays a crucial role in nurturing environmentally conscious and active citizens who are committed to protecting and preserving the natural world for future generations.
