The Muslim Students Organization (MSO) was established at Notre Dame of Marbel University by Dr. Buenafe Quillope in 2004 in response to the increasing number of Muslim students in the catholic university. With the initial objective to become the student government that would address Muslim students’ concerns, to increase their visibility and to be involved in school policy making. MSO’s objective have evolved as time passes by and becoming the avenue for the Muslim students to express their faith, engage in cultural activities and build a community within the institution. Having been granted the status of autonomy from NDMU Campus Ministry, the MSO have not only been active in the campus activities but also outside of school’s premises. It has received various accolades from various award giving bodies such as “Most Outstanding Organization Award” NDMU University Gawad ng Parangal in 2016, among the “Top 30” out of 365 youth organizations in the Philippines in the Ten Accomplished Youth Organization in 2015, “Most Active Youth Organization” given by the local government of Sarangani in 2017, UNESCO Club of Philippines accredited in 2024, and among others. MSO hones leadership skills of Muslim youth leaders, enhancing their empathy and understanding towards different religious and cultural backgrounds. Muslim Students Organization contributes to the university by promoting diverse and inclusive community for all.
