The Palawan State University School of Medicine Student Government (PSU-SOM SG) is the official and autonomous governing body representing the medical students of PSU-SOM. As the first medical school in Palawan and the MIMAROPA region, PSU-SOM is home to a growing number of future doctors, currently comprising 62 medical students. Located at the Palawan State University Tiniguiban Campus, Puerto Princesa City, the SOM-SG is committed to upholding the rights, welfare, and interests of its members while fostering leadership, service, and academic excellence. As the voice of the student body, it actively develops and implements programs, policies, projects, and activities that support student well-being, professional growth, and community engagement, all while ensuring alignment with the University Code and national regulations. The PSU-SOM SG strives to advocate for the rights and concerns of medical students, ensuring their representation in university affairs and decision-making processes. It promotes academic and professional development by organizing initiatives that enhance medical education, research, and skills training to cultivate competent and compassionate future physicians. The government prioritizes student welfare by establishing programs that support mental health, wellness, and a conducive learning environment. It also strengthens unity among students by fostering leadership, teamwork, and active participation in medical organizations nationwide. Recognizing the importance of social responsibility, the PSU-SOM SG leads outreach programs, disaster relief response, and medical missions. The PSU-SOM SG remains steadfast in its mission to empower students, uphold academic excellence, and serve the community, ensuring that its members are well-equipped to meet the demands of the medical profession and contribute meaningfully to society, reinforcing the university’s commitment to producing dedicated “Doctors para sa Bayan.”
