Environment

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) is a school-based organization in the Philippines established under the Department of Education (DepEd) to promote environmental awareness, protection, and sustainable practices among students. It serves as a platform for young people to become actively involved in environmental advocacy, fostering a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to preserving natural resources. Through various programs and initiatives, YES-O empowers students to lead and participate in projects that address pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and waste management. The organization’s primary objective is to instill environmental consciousness among students and encourage proactive involvement in sustainability efforts. It aims integrate ecological principles into school activities, ensuring that students develop habits that contribute to environmental preservation. Specific goals include promoting proper waste segregation and disposal, reducing plastic consumption, and encouraging recycling and upcycling. Additionally, YES-O supports tree planting programs, coastal and community clean up drives, and energy and water conservation campaigns to minimize environmental degradation. YES-O also plays a vital role in disaster risk reduction by educating students on climate resilience and emergency preparedness. Through eco-camps, seminars, and workshops, the organization enhances students’ knowledge of environmental science, fostering leadership skills and teamwork in implementing green initiatives. By collaborating with local government units, environmental agencies, and other organizations, YES-O extends its impact beyond schools and into the broader community. Ultimately, YES-O nurtures young environmental advocates who are committed to sustainable development and ecological preservation. By engaging in hands-on environmental activities and awareness campaigns, students become instrumental in fostering a culture of responsibility, ensuring that future generations inherit a cleaner, greener, and healthier planet.
