Peace-Building and Security, Active Citizenship
The Monkayo Youth Disaster Response Organization (MYDRO) is a community-based, youth-led initiative established to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities among the youth of Monkayo and its neighboring areas. Anchored on the principles of service, integrity, and resilience, MYDRO seeks to empower young individuals through hands-on training, civic engagement, and collaborative action. The organization operates under a structured framework that emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and proactive disaster risk management. MYDRO envisions a community of empowered youth, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to natural and human-made disasters. With a mission to train, mobilize, and educate, MYDRO functions as an auxiliary force supporting professional responders and fostering a culture of safety and preparedness. Objectives of MYDRO include: - To develop the disaster response capacity of the youth through regular and structured training programs. - To conduct community outreach and education campaigns on disaster preparedness and risk reduction. - To serve as a support unit during emergencies, providing assistance to local authorities and emergency services. - To instill leadership, responsibility, and volunteerism among its members. - To collaborate with government agencies, non-government organizations, and community groups in building disaster-resilient communities.
