The USM National Service Reserve Corps (USM NSRC) is a school-based organization at the University of Southern Mindanao, Main Campus, Kabacan, Cotabato, comprised of graduates of the non-ROTC components of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), specifically the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS). The organization's preamble states its members unite to promote and uphold values of service, nationalism, and community development, actively engaging in fostering positive change through volunteerism, education, and collective action. Its core purpose, in accordance with Republic Act No. 9163 (the NSTP Act of 2001), is to establish a trained, motivated, and organized manpower reserve for disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM), civic welfare, literacy, environmental protection, and other national service activities. The USM NSRC envisions a nation where students act as catalysts for meaningful community engagement and sustainable development, empowering grassroots movements and inspiring volunteerism. As a student-based unit, its mission is to cultivate a community of dedicated individuals driven by a sense of service to fellow students and the Filipino people, anchoring its principles in nationalism and civic responsibility.
