Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines, Inc. is a duly constituted barangay-based organization of the out-of-school youth between 15 to 30 years old who are clientele of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The PYAP was first incorporated on July 29, 1974, by the Securities and Exchange Commission under the name of Pag-asa Youth Movement. Inc. or PYM, Inc. and thus become an affiliate organization of DSWD. As a result of innovative programs and services and further strengthening the capabilities of the youth program. PYM, Inc. changed its name to PYAP, Inc. based on its new SEC Registration No. 01328 approved on April 12, 1996. The PYAP, Inc. is organized nationwide and is federated from the Municipal / City, Provincial, Regional and National levels. The PYAP federation of different levels serves as a strategy that provides a forum to discuss youth issues and contems related to their projects and come up with solutions addressed to both youth and other systems involved in the program, planning, and implementation. The PYAP. Inc. utilizes the DSWD's youth program called Unlad Kabataan Program (UKP) formerly known as Integrated Human Resource Development Program for Youth (IHRDPY) in order to cary out the goal of providing opportunities for PYAP members in order to actualize their potentials, and aspirations, experience, self-fulfillment, contribute to the growth of his/her community and participate in the task of nation-building.
