The Youth Environment in School Organization (YEO) of Gov. Manuel D. Barretto National High School plays a vital role in fostering environmental awareness, protection, and sustainable practices within the school community. It serves as a platform for students to become proactive stewards of the environment, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to address pressing ecological issues. The organization works to promote environmental education by raising awareness on topics such as climate change, proper waste management, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable living. It leads various activities and advocacy campaigns, including tree planting, campus clean-up drives, recycling initiatives, and energy conservation efforts, with the aim of creating a cleaner and healthier school environment. The YES O also strives to develop leadership among students by involving them in planning, organizing, and implementing environmental projects, as well as representing the youth voice in school-based environmental decision-making. Through seminars, workshops, and creative competitions such as poster-making contests and environmental quiz bees, the organization engages students in meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences that strengthen their commitment to ecological preservation. Collaboration with local government units, non- government organizations, and other youth groups further enhances the reach and impact of its initiatives. By consistently promoting sustainability through actions like proper waste segregation, water and energy conservation, and the reduction of the school’s ecological footprint, the YES O seeks to inspire positive habits that extend beyond the school grounds and into the community. It believes that small, consistent actions, when carried out collectively, can lead to significant change. Ultimately, the Youth Environment Organization envisions a generation of students who are not only academically prepared but also environmentally responsible, contributing to the achievement of a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for all.
