The Youth for Human and Ecological Security (YHES) Organization of Barangay 106 Sto. Niño, Tacloban City is the Youth-arm of Tacloban City Population Office under the Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Program was established in our Barangay in January 2022, and every after Two Years we are electing new sets of officers. It was organized with the vision of empowering young people to become responsible, proactive, and community-driven individuals. Since its establishment, YHES has been at the forefront of Youth Development and Advocacy in Barangay 106 Sto. Niño, Tacloban City—actively engaging in programs and activities that promote health awareness, education, environmental, agricultural and meaningful youth participation in community-building efforts. The organization’s efforts and initiatives have been recognized in the City Level since 2022 as we won the Search for Most Outstanding Barangay YHES Organization CY 2022, we also won the Best Practices and YHES Initiatives Contest last 2023, and victory never stopped there recently for the second time we were once again awarded as the Most Outstanding Barangay YHES Organization last 2024.Objectives of the YHES Organization – Barangay 106 Sto. Niño; To promote better understanding among young people on Adolescent Health and Development which aims to reduce the incidence of too early sexual involvement, teenage pregnancy, early marriage, STI, HIV and AIDS, and other non-sexual risky behavior like smoking, alcoholism and drug use. To support projects that are consistent with the preservation of the environment and natural resources; To inculcate the significance of young people’s participation in strengthening the Family as an integral part of society; To support programs that are designed to maximize young people’s participation in community, environmental, health and ecological issues; To undertake fund-raising/resource generation projects and activities to support YHES’ objectives. Our organization also taking the challenge to raise awareness and educate the youth on pressing health, education, and social issues affecting the community. To empower young people as Peer Educators and advocates for positive change. To sustain safe spaces and avenues for youth participation, leadership, and personal development. To collaborate with Barangay Officials, government agencies, and partner organizations in implementing youth-focused programs and initiative. To foster camaraderie, volunteerism, and active involvement of the youth in addressing community needs and challenges. Through our organization’s vision, we were able to establish and formally launch the first ever community-based AHD Teen Center in the City of Tacloban last August 12, 2025 coinciding the celebration of International Youth Day.
