Education, Active Citizenship

The PATAW Organization envisions the Filipino youth as proud bearers of heritage - writers, storytellers, and cultural creators who uplift the richness of Waray and Binisaya as vital voices of our identity. Like a buoy that keeps the fisherfolk's net afloat, the organization serves as a beacon of memory and continuity, ensuring that our languages and literature remain alive, visible, and celebrated in the present and for generations to come. Our purpose is to highlight the beauty and power of Waray and Binisaya by providing young writers with platforms to write, publish, and perform works in their own language. PATAW believes that every poem, story, and essay written in our mother tongues is an act of pride - affirming who we are as a people and inspiring others to value their roots. Writing, for us, is both a cultural celebration and a way of participating in nation-building. Objectives: a. To build a vibrant community of youth writers committed to promoting and celebrating Waray and Binisaya literature. b. To organize workshops, mentorships, and cultural events that develop the skills of young writers while nurturing pride in their language and heritage. c. To produce publications, performances, and creative projects that showcase Waray and Binisaya works to wider audiences. d. To partner with schools, LGUs, and cultural institutions in integrating local language and literature into education, governance, and community life. Through these efforts, the PATAW Organization positions itself as a buoy of culture and creativity - a collective of young voices dedicated to uplifting Waray and Binisaya, and carrying them proudly into the heart of national development.
