Education, Governance, Active Citizenship
Ang Pamana (Filipino school paper) and The Legacy (English school paper) are the official journalism publications of Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School. These student-run publications serve as platforms for responsible campus journalism, providing timely, truthful, and relevant information to the school community while empowering student voices. As extensions of the classroom, the publications aim to enhance the journalistic skills of student-writers in news, feature, editorial, science, sports, and literary writing, as well as photojournalism and layout design. The organization fosters critical thinking, media awareness, and a commitment to truth, ethics, and nation-building. Objectives: To develop the skills of student-journalists in various forms of writing, editing, layouting, and media production. To promote responsible, ethical, and fact-based journalism that upholds the values of transparency, fairness, and integrity. To serve as the voice of the student body by covering relevant school and community issues, events, and stories. To encourage freedom of expression, creativity, and critical thinking among student-journalists. To represent the school in division, regional, and national press conferences and journalism contests. Through Ang Pamana & The Legacy, students are not only trained as campus journalists but are also molded as future leaders, storytellers, and truth-seekers who value the power of the written word in shaping society.
