Environment

The Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) is a student-based organization established under the Department of Education (DepEd) to promote environmental awareness, action, and responsibility among Filipino youth. It serves as a platform for students to participate actively in protecting, preserving, and conserving the environment through various school- and community-based initiatives. Guided by the principle of sustainable development, YES-O encourages learners to become advocates and leaders of environmental change. YES-O organizes activities such as tree planting, waste segregation drives, coastal cleanups, recycling campaigns, and environmental education programs. These initiatives not only help improve the school and community environment but also develop students’ sense of discipline, cooperation, and civic duty. The organization fosters a culture of care for nature while promoting values of teamwork, volunteerism, and accountability. Objectives: 1. To promote environmental awareness among students and encourage the integration of ecological principles in daily activities and learning. 2. To develop leadership and volunteerism by engaging students in projects that address environmental issues in their school and community. 3. To implement sustainable environmental practices through programs on waste management, energy conservation, and biodiversity protection. 4. To strengthen collaboration between the school, local government, and environmental organizations in pursuing eco-friendly programs. 5. To nurture environmental stewardship among the youth by instilling values of responsibility, respect for nature, and active citizenship. Through its activities, YES-O serves as a vital avenue for young people to transform their awareness into concrete environmental actions. It molds students into responsible citizens who recognize their role in protecting the planet—one project, one tree, and one act of care at a time.
