The League of Warriors (LEWA) -an organization from the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) in Lyceum of the Philippines University –Laguna (LPU-L), started its humble beginning from zero to an unexpected journey that opened up various prestigious opportunities for both the institution and college. The founder and the current Culinary Director of the CITHM and Culinary Institute –Laguna, Chef Abram Peralta, once dreamt of putting the LPU brand in the local culinary and hospitality industry spotlight. It was also a vision of him on garnering recognition from the reputable hospitality practitioners and well-respected chefs across the globe. A warrior is defined as someone who has undergone tough training, discipline and have also engaged in some struggle and conflict. This may have been the perfect description for the students who have the mind and heart to exhibit their dedication towards their craft and profession. Chosen and taught by Chef Abram Peralta, the legacy was passed on from the first generation to the present league of students who have been conquering the hospitality and culinary arena. The team have been participating various local culinary competitions across the region, they were also honored to be given the platform to showcase their innovation and creativity. It was not an easy journey considering that they were amateurs’ way back then. Competing with the best foreign and local establishments and universities opened up their eyes to an even greater heights of the industry. On joining competitions, it’s either they will win or learn to improve. Bagging several diplomas to gold medals, the organization knew that they have more in store and losing is never an option. Since then, the small team that was sown have eventually grown into a league that is now reaping the fruits of their hard work and passion.
