Out-of-School Youth (OSY) are young individuals, who for various reasons, economic challenges, personal circumstances, or lack of access to educational opportunities, are unable to pursue formal schooling. Despite these challenges, OSY represents a powerful and capable sector of society with the potential to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and the nation. An OSY organization serves as a platform where this young people can develop themselves, gain essential skills, and participate in community-building initiatives, OSY advocacy focuses on expanding access to, education, promoting economic empowerment, strengthening social inclusion, supporting peace building and security, encouraging active citizenship, and protecting the environment. Through skills training, leadership development, livelihood support, and civic participation, OSY organizations aim to equip young people with the tools they need to become responsible, productive, and engaged members of the society. An OSY organization also strives to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive space where young people can express their concerns, voice their needs, and become partners in local development. it empowers them to overcome barriers, build confidence, and pursue better opportunities for the future. By connecting them with relevant institutions, such as the LGU, CSWDO, TESDA, DepEd ALS, and partner NGOs, the organization opens pathways for education, employment, and community involvement. Ultimately, OSY are not just beneficiaries of programs; they are agents of change. With proper support, they can play active roles in promoting space, protecting the environment, strengthening governance, and uplifting their communities. An OSY organization ensures that no youth is left behind and that every young person has the chance to build a brighter and more resilient future.
