Education, Peace-Building and Security, Active Citizenship

PYM Saint William is the coordinating body of the youth sector within the parochial vicinity of Saint William the Hermit Cathedral Parish. As defined in the draft manual of the Commission on Youth Apostolate of the Diocese of San Fernando of La Union, Catholic Youth Ministry is the specific branch of the Church's mission to reach out directly the young and give the love of Jesus. It is the ensemble of actions, activities for, to, by and with the young to address their present situation in order to involve them as active agents in the Church's mission. It includes the formation, organization, and mobilization of the young in their different settings. PYM Saint William started with the organization called "TIDANA" or Tignay Dagiti Agtutubo a Naayaban nga Agsirbi in 1992. With the vision to prepare and hone the young to become mature Christian leaders and responsible citizens, for thirty years, PYM Saint William has continually provided formation programs, activities and projects that promote holistic development aligned with the missionary spirit of the Church. At present, it has five (5) submistries namely Ministry of Altar Servers, Liturgical Arts Ministry, Music Ministry, Social Communications Ministry and Ministry of the Word. We also one with the Diocesan Youth Ministry in envisioning a formed and prayerful youth and in carrying out its mission of providing growth-promoting formations and avenues of prayer for the young, as we journey with Christ. In 2024, PYM Saint William was awarded as one of the 20 National Awardees of the Outstanding YORP Organizations by the National Youth Commission.
