Active Citizenship

Layag Caloocan is a youth-led, nonpartisan volunteer network that serves as a local youth platform aligned with the mission and civic initiatives of Angat Buhay. As a chapter-level or umbrella youth network in Caloocan City, Layag Caloocan mobilizes young volunteers, community advocates, and emerging leaders to participate in grassroots service, civic engagement, and community development initiatives. Established as a forum for youth participation and collaboration, Layag Caloocan empowers young people to take an active role in addressing community needs through volunteerism, outreach programs, and collaborative campaigns. The organization promotes the values of empathy, accountability, solidarity, and bayanihan, encouraging its members to contribute to nation-building through meaningful service and responsible leadership. Layag Caloocan brings together youth from diverse backgrounds—including students, community volunteers, and aspiring leaders—and equips them with opportunities for learning, mentorship, and hands-on community work. Through these efforts, the organization strengthens the capacity of young people to become proactive agents of positive change within their communities. In partnership with civil society groups, schools, local government units, and community stakeholders, Layag Caloocan works to ensure that youth voices are actively involved in shaping local development efforts.
