The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as the world's preeminent humanitarian network, operates under the seven fundamental principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. Its overarching mission is the prevention and alleviation of human suffering, the protection of life and health, and the upholding of human dignity worldwide, through endeavors spanning disaster response, health services, and the promotion of humanitarian values. In the Philippines, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) spearheads these efforts, deeply integrated into local communities. Building upon this global framework, the San Juan Community Red Cross Youth Council (SJCRYC) functions as a dynamic cohort of young volunteers committed to embodying Red Cross principles within the local community. As the youth arm of the PRC in San Juan, its core objectives include cultivating a profound spirit of service, leadership, and compassion among its members. The Council aims to educate San Juan's youth on humanitarian action and empower them with essential skills in first aid, disaster preparedness, leadership, and community organizing, thereby preparing highly effective volunteers and future leaders. Active participation in and initiation of programs addressing local needs, such as health promotion, disaster risk reduction, environmental protection, and social welfare, are key functions. Ultimately, the Council strives to foster significant volunteerism, creating opportunities for young individuals to engage in impactful service, contributing positively to San Juan's well-being and resilience.
