Education
The Taro, the official student publication of Tarusan National High School, serves as a vital platform for student expression, campus journalism, and community engagement. Named after the “taro” or local name of behave in Brgy. Tarusan producing honey that symbolizes sweet product, resilience and sustenance in Filipino culture, the publication aims to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and responsible citizenship among Tarusan learners. In an era where information spreads rapidly and misinformation is prevalent, The Taro stands as a credible source of school news, student achievements, and relevant issues affecting the youth and the local community. The primary purpose of The Taro is to uphold the principles of Campus Journalism Act of 1991 (RA 7079) by training students in ethical reporting, responsible writing, and media literacy. Through new articles, features, editorials, literary works, and visual storytelling, the publication provides students with hands-on experience in gathering, verifying, and disseminating information. This process develops not only their communication skills but also their sense of accountability and social awareness. The Taro becomes a training ground for future journalists, writers, artists, and leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society. Moreover, The Taro bridges the school and the community. It documents the academic and co-curricular milestones of Tarusan NHS, amplifies student voices on issues such as education, environment, and mental health, and highlights local culture and values.
