The Ilocos Norte Red Cross Youth Chapter Youth Council’s aim is to shape humanitarian leaders among the young through participation and empowerment. The presence of fully functional youth councils is essential in the delivery of programs and activities for the youth. It is where they find opportunities to participate in making values-oriented choices, in decision-making, and in taking steps to ignite change and create a positive impact on society. Through this education and empowerment, the young humanitarian leaders prepare themselves with essential leadership skills. Skills that are honed for future roles in society and sharpened through the performance of their roles and tasks as officers and leaders within their own councils. To ensure that equal opportunities are granted to the youth and help them discover and hone their full potential for humanitarian leadership and the service to humanity, it is critical that the presence of Red Cross Youth Councils in every school and community is guaranteed. Furthermore, the establishment of youth councils will be the fundamental requisite for the initiation and delivery of Red Cross programs and projects for the young in a school or community setting.
