PROJECT AMBAGAN: GINGOOG MOVEMENT was founded last December 21, 2021. It started when Super Typhoon Rai (local name Odette) made landfall in the Philippines on December 16, 2021, in the coastal city of Siargao, with additional landfalls in eight other areas in the Philippines; Mindanao and Visayas regions. The typhoon wreaked havoc on everyone caught in its path, with torrential rainfall, powerful winds, floods, and storm surges. According to government figures, the storm impacted 10.8 million people in eleven areas, affecting 10,100 barangays villages, killing roughly 405 people and injuring thousands more, displacing nearly 3 million people. People were pleading, begging, and calling for aid at the time. The founders then organized a drive with ten (10) co-founders to collect money, used clothing, and other in-kind donations, eventually growing to sixty eight (68) pioneer members and 100 volunteers. The members are from different sectors of the society; young professionals, students, government employees, and social media influencers who have the desire of helping people. The group is still young, having been around for less than a year, yet it has already completed four significant activities. Its goal is to hold activity(ies) in the communities once a month at the very least. Our disadvantaged brothers and sisters, particularly children, are the intended beneficiaries. As an organization, we try to achieve our goal of making the world a better place to live by working TOGETHER. Indeed, we rise by lifting others.
