The Astorga Indigenous People Youth Organization or AIPYO is the certified IP organization of Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. It was established on November 17, 2021 and on that day, it officially started serving the indigenous community, with the goals and aspirations that are centered on promoting the rights and welfare of the indigenous community. Since its establishment, AIPYO has been initiating meetings and gatherings and has participated in numerous regional and national conferences, which have been instrumental in activating the indigenous awareness and knowledge of the youth. Also, it continues to serve the indigenous people of Barangay Astorga through fora, sports, music, and friendly competitions. Just last January 14, 2022, the AIPYO successfully conducted its election of officers and nominated the first set of officers, which was graced by the tribal chieftain of Barangay Astorga, IP youth leaders of other barangays, and more than 50 young people. \r\n\r\n The AIPYO believes that the IP youth of Barangay Astorga are instrumental in improving the lives of indigenous people and in attaining genuine inclusivity and equality in a culturally diverse society. Also, we believe that as IP youth, we have to fight the discriminations and injustices against us in order to successfully participate in nation-building and community service. We also believe that the ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the youth should be embraced and promoted in order to showcase the uniqueness and individuality of every young people. And that is why we established this organization and we are bold and courageous enough to conquer greater heights and to prove to the society that the IP community is full of talent, skills, and wonderful cultures and that we deserve so much recognition and respect. With this, the AIPYO vows to continue serving the indigenous people in various ways and we promise to preserve and as well as embellish the wonderful cultures of our community.\r\n
