Youth for Peace Movement – Glan Chapter is a non-profit and SEC Registered youth serving organization that aims to promote peace building and security.\r\nIn 2002 – the 2nd Infantry Division launched a trial of YLS on March 10-13, 2002, at the University of Rizal System as a counter activity to the New People Army’s rampant recruitment of youth in the area of Rizal Province in Luzon\r\nIn 2003 – then Colonel Fernando L. Mesa supervised the 2nd YLS in the country and first YLS in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on August 10-14, 2003. It reportedly gathered High School students from 11 Schools in the said area. Through that successful activity, Col. Mesa was later hailed as the father of YLS.\r\nThe effectiveness of YLS was recognized by the AFP leadership, to which it was later institutionalized and adopted as a regular program, in collaboration with the LGUs and other stakeholders. After bringing the activity to Caliraya, Laguna, the YLS graduates were gathered to form an organization. It became the pioneering YFP Chapter in the country called Youth for Peace Advocacy Movement (YPAM).\r\nDEVELOP the youth to become responsible individuals; EMPOWER the youth as advocates and conduits of peace and development; PROTECT the youth from armed struggle; EQUIP young leaders with skills in developing and implementing their own projects and advocacy campaigns; and INVITE new volunteers supportive of government’s efforts for peace-building
