Social Inclusion and Equity

The Buca Tagakaulo Indigenous People Club is a student organization of Buca Integrated School located at Buca, Sta. Maria Davao Occidental. Barangay Buca is one of the barangays of the municipality of Sta. Maria in which majority of the residents are members the Tagakaulo tribe. In the modern time, the culture and traditions of the local tribe has not been given attention and importance by the people. The love and pride of the Tagakaulo tribe by the young people slowly dies due to lack of awareness by the society. In this regard, the school has initiated the establishment of the organization. The club's primary advocacy is to preserve and restore the rich tribal heritage of the Tagakaulo tribe, a local tribe in the area which has been at stake of disappearing. Secondly, it aims at promoting local tourism in the area by showcasing the various handicrafts, dances, rituals, customs and literary works of the Tagakaulo tribe. Thirdly, it focuses on enhancing and developing the talents and abilities of the students of Buca Integrated School who are members of the Tagakaulo Indigenous Community. Above all, it aims at developing pride and patriotism to Tagakaulo heritage by the young people who are the future generation. The activities and programs to be expected will be focusing on developing and honing the skills and talents of members in handicraft making and designing that promote tagakaulo handicrafts. It will aim at creating income to fund the club. Moreover, the product designs and output will be showcased to promote tagakaulo tribe products in the municipal and provincial level. On the other hand, preserving and restoring the tagakaulo heritage is the primary goal of the club. Tagakaulo elder who are lumads will be invited to impart and share their expertise in handicrafts and literary works to hand down the tagakaulo heritage to the next generations.
