Kabataang Heneral Independent Network or KABAHIN is a youth-led organization based in General Santos City established on August 2021. Its major membership composed of Out-of-School Youth (OSYs) from alumni and completers of Alternative Learning System (ALS), Youth from TESDA schools and faith-based organizations. KABAHIN was established with 2 major objectives to 1) create and provide a safe space for our OSYs to share their stories, their challenges and aspirations in life and 2) create development opportunities for the youth that they can avail or access and will support them as they pursue their chosen pathways to education, employment, entrepreneurship and civic engagement. KABAHIN also serves as volunteering arm of the General Santos City Youth Development Alliance (GSCOSYDA). It is expanding to different barangays of Gensan and aimed to reach more OSYs to take part in the youth development programs. Since its inception, KABAHIN was able to implement various youth volunteering projects such as Advocate for Sustainable Environmental Alternatives or AdvocaSEA, TEENguha sa kabatan-onan, voters’ education drive, LINGAP sa mga Kabataan, Financial Literacy and Youth Leadership Trainings. These activities have engaged 1288 OSYs and established partnerships and collaborations with various youth organizations in the city. KABAHIN works across thematic 5 areas anchored to Sustainable Development Goals to wit: Health and Nutrition, Environmental Protection, Education, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Skills Development.
