The Barkada Kontra Droga( BKD) Program conceptualized in 2004 was institutionalized in 2007 by Board Regulation No.5, s. of 2007. The general objective of the program is to promote people empowerment in leading a healthy lifestyle that is drug-free and productive. The BKD has four (4) phases- seminar, capability building, implementation of formulated action plan and monitoring and evaluation. In other words, the BKD observed that the youth do face a lot of challenges, coupled with their environmental and social pressures. It aims to transform and develop the young learners to be catalysts with his peer group in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle thru participating in various wholesome activities and engaging positive endeavor in the company of his friends. The BKD program being implemented by the Youth Federation Program Board aims to achieve the following objectives 1. Promote youth empowerment in leading a healthy lifestyle that is drug-free and productive. 2. Encourage the youth to be productive use of the time and alternative activities. 3. Train the youth in advocating a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
