he program called "Barkada Kontra Droga" implemented in institutions aims to combat drug abuse by educating and involving students. Its main objective is to empower students, with knowledge and resources that help them make choices and build a support system against drug use. According to the guidelines provided by the Department of Education (DepEd) in Memorandum No. 66 issued in 2017 schools must create a safe and drug free learning environment. This includes implementing activities, strategies and assigning responsibilities to both school personnel and students. The mission of the "Barkada Kontra Droga" program is to equip students with the tools to resist drugs while promoting health and well being. The program encourages students to become leaders, among their peers actively discouraging drug use educating others about the risks associated with drugs and promoting behaviors and choices. Ultimately this initiative aspires to foster a school atmosphere while supporting students in making decisions for their lives.
