The Supreme Elementary Learners’ Government (SELG) and Supreme Secondary Learners’ Government (SSLG) are the top student governing bodies in schools, focused on promoting learners’ rights, welfare, and moral values. They operate autonomously and democratically, guided by the Department of Education’s mission to ensure quality, equitable, and inclusive education. SELG/SSLG emphasizes good governance, volunteerism, participatory democracy, and responsible leadership, adhering to the core values of Godliness, Humanitarianism, Environmentalism, and Nationalism. Their objectives include upholding Department of Education principles, empowering learners in academics, leadership, and social responsibility, fostering national pride, and representing learners in school governance. These organizations actively collaborate with school management to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and contribute to nation-building. They are committed to protecting learners' rights, maintaining integrity, and renouncing corruption. SELG/SSLG promotes open communication with student organizations and stakeholders, providing channels for learners to express concerns and suggestions. They ensure transparency and accountability in all transactions and uphold non-partisan, non-sectarian principles, avoiding commercialization in compliance with Department of Education regulations.
