Student Catholic Action: Faith in Action The Student Catholic Action (SCA) is a Philippines-based organization for Catholic students founded in 1936. It’s the first student religious organization in the country and is affiliated with the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) overseas. SCA empowers students to grow as disciples of Christ through a unique methodology: “see-judge-act.” Objectives: • Faith Formation: SCA fosters a deep understanding and appreciation of the Catholic faith among its members. This is achieved through bible studies, discussions on Church teachings, and opportunities for spiritual growth. • Leadership Development: SCA cultivates leadership skills in young Catholics. Through participation in activities and programs, students gain confidence, communication abilities, and organizational prowess. These skills equip them to become future leaders in their schools, parishes, and communities. • Social Awareness: SCA encourages students to be aware of social realities and injustices. Through activities like community outreach and social justice programs, members develop empathy and a commitment to serving those in need. • Evangelization: SCA empowers students to share their faith with others. Through service projects, outreach programs, and personal witness, members become active participants in the Church’s mission of spreading the Gospel message. • Community Building: SCA fosters a strong sense of community among Catholic students. By participating in group activities, retreats, and social events, members build lasting friendships and a supportive network within the Catholic faith. In essence, SCA goes beyond religious education. It aims to create well-rounded Catholic leaders who are active in their faith, engaged with their communities, and prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
