Balik Sigla, Balik Eskwela Project

 

Balik Sigla, Balik Eskwela Project was launched in Paete, Laguna during the opening of the school year last August, 2021. It aimed to motivate students in the poorest of the poor communities to continue education despite pandemic and poverty. Katoto Project initially prepared a hundred pieces of school kits, but through the generosity of Paeteños and hard work of Katoto Members, it reached more than 800 students of Paete, Laguna from the “poblacion” up to the Upland of the town.

The pandemic devastated not only health and economy sectors but one of the most affected is the education sector. Teachers are in the risk status because they are also in the frontline for education. Students are in the most difficult situation, especially the indigent students.

These were the reasons why Katoto Project started the “Balik Sigla, Balik Eskwela Project”. The organization created a fundraising project called “ Baryanihanan” and “Katotonuts”. The organization sold peanuts in the community to create enough funds for the project and just for only one month, they reached the goal with a total amount of Php 32, 313.00. This project proved that through our collaborative efforts and genuine desire to help our community, we can do a lot.
