The Perk of PERC: Protect the Plane

It seems that these days all we hear about is the tragic impact our actions are having on planet earth. With billions of tons of waste filling our oceans, millions of people experiencing hunger every day. There are still many people in the world who are trying their best to help our mother earth and we are one of them. Through conducting clean-up drive from different municipalities and barangay showing our dedication and eagerness to help and lessen garbage’s that improperly thrown by human-beings.

As we all know, we are facing a lot of environmental issues such as floods, climate change, melting of the polar ice caps and pollution. May it be from air, water or land. Restore what was lost, we aim for the surrounding that’s greenish and full of grasses and tall trees. As a student and a member of active organization our purpose in our project is to help reduce waste in our surroundings and to recycle most of the waste like plastics and metals for a better masterpiece. We want to help each and every barangay to stay clean and have a surrounding that is beneficial to each and every person that resides in that barangay, since we want an environment free from liters and an environment full of trees. 

International Coastal Clean-up is the largest volunteer effort for ocean’s health. People around the world gather on beaches, coasts, rivers, waterways and underwater dive sites to remove trash and record information on the debris collected. Presidential Proclamation No. 470 series of 2003 declares the third Saturday of September of each year as the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Day in observance of the Global Coast Clean-up Celebrations.

As part of the celebration of the 7th National Clean-up Day, the Physical Education Recreational Circle conducted Clean Up drive activity in the different municipalities in home and in coast lines, rivers and creeks to show support, love and promote cleanliness in the environment. The objective of the activity is to engage people around the world to remove trash and debris from beaches, waterways and other water bodies, to identify the sources of the litter, to change behaviours that causes pollution and to raise awareness on the extent of the marine debris problem.
